Part 2

GRAMMAR

At Eastwards Consortium, our focus is primarily on educating and developing the next generation of our society. This section showcases off our ‘Wellcomm Primary’ activity set, and below you will find a set of tabs which depict these tasks further. If you find children are struggling with a task or, on the other hand, passing with flying colours, indications and suggestions are proposed in each section to ensure you keep all children challenged and on-task as much as possible.
To view the various parts of each activity, simply click on the respective tab and watch it magically appear!

USING IRREGULAR COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES

MAIN ACTIVITY

  • Show the child the following table:
  • Ask the child to use the irregular comparatives and superlatives in sentences. For example, ‘The tiger was bad, the panther was worse but the lion was the worst.’

HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS ACTIVITY MORE CHALLENGING?

  • Repeat the above with different examples.

HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS ACTIVITY EASIER?

  • Model the activity and use lots of repetition.

UNDERSTANDING PASSIVE SENTENCES

MAIN ACTIVITY

  • Say the following passive sentences to the child and ask the child to act out the sentence: The boy is fed an orange by his father, the skateboard was picked up by the girl, the mouse was chased by the cat.
  • By role-playing the different sentences, this will provide the child with a better understanding of passive sentences.

HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS ACTIVITY MORE CHALLENGING?

  • Add in extra adjectives to describe what is happening.
  • Model the sentences to the child first.

HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS ACTIVITY EASIER?

  • Say each sentence slowly to the child to support with their understanding.
